Domain Name FAQ

Host Capitol offers over 100 domain name extensions to choose from, making the task of choosing the perfect domain name for your personality or brand as easy as possible. You can view a full list of extensions and pricing here.

Unfortunately it is not possible to renew your domain name through us if it is not register by us or if you haven’t transferred it to Host Capitol.
Only the Registrar of a domain name has the rights to renew it.

Alternatively, you can transfer your domain over to Host Capitol where cost of your domain transfer will add an additional year of registration after the domain’s expiry date.

You can renew your domain name registered through Host Capitol from your Client Portal > My account > Domain names.

We will renew for free the domain name registered using code FREEDOMAIN during the initial hosting account signup.
That goes with any successful renewal of your hosting account.

All other domain names have to be renewed separately. All Host Capitol services including domain names are set on automatic renewal billing. This means that we will attempt to bill you automatically when your renewal is due.

For Domains Registered With Us:
If your domain name is registered with us, you may still be able to renew it within the Client Portal.

For Domains Registered With Another Company:
Unfortunately we cannot register an expired domain managed by another registrar / hosting company.
This is an ICANN official restriction which allows no exceptions.

In such cases we recommend contacting your previous host / registrar and renewing your domain with them. After that you can consider transferring it to Host Capitol.

The minimum registration period of a domain name is one year. You can register it for a longer period; however, it is not possible to do so for a period shorter than one year.

There are some deceiving registrars called “domain slammers” who send misleading emails urging you to renew your domain with them. Please check Wikipedia for more information about domain slamming.
Such emails are generally considered as “scams” and you can safely disregard them.

If you are uncertain which is your registrar, you can easily check it by going to whois.icann.org.
When a domain is registered by Host Capitol you will see:

Registration Service Provided By: Host Capitol, LLC
or
Registration Service Provider: Host Capitol LLC.

Reported domain slammers:

  • Liberty Names of America

  • Domain Registry of America

  • Domain Registry of Canada
